No exceptions. Error handling uses Result and the ? propagation operator (see Chapter 10). Errors are values, not control flow. Every function that can fail says so in its return type, and the compiler enforces that you handle the error or propagate it.

These experiments suggest less “slightly worse model” and more “genuine brain damage.” Which makes sense under the circuit model — duplicating the wrong circuit is like enlarging a specific region of the brain at the expense of its neighbours. The stuttering models might have had their decoding circuits pushed out of alignment by extra reasoning depth they couldn’t translate back into coherent tokens.
